“Be just and fear not” was the motto of the early suffragist movement. This week was Suffrage week, with Suffrage day on 19th Sept. On this day in 1893 Governor Lord Glasgow signed a new Electoral Act into law, making New Zealand the first self-governing country in the world to grant all women the right to vote in parliamentary elections.
